Surveillance in the Digital Era: Part 2

In my first publication about this subject, I wrote about the importance of selecting what we publish on our social networking sites in order to protect our personal data from theft. Personal security was emphasized following a dictionary definition of the term surveillance.

Now, in this second and final publication about the same issue, I will then discuss the academic definition for surveillance, definition that I now shall repeat. David Lyon, an academic writer, says that surveillance is “Watching and recording others’ activity as a means of monitoring and supervising them” (Lyon, 2002). Or yet, “Focusing and systematic attention to personal details for the purpose of influence, management, care, control or regulation.” (Lyon, 2002: p. 1-5).

Even though it seems to be the same definition as it is in the dictionary, which I profoundly explored in the previous article, it is not the same; there is a crucial element of difference. The academic definition that I will pass on to describe means much more than a “close observation” as the dictionary states. The academic definition speaks about constant surveillance, monitoring something in a systematic manner. It is almost as if dissecting a human or animal body. It is something beyond social networking, something that we are all submitting to in our daily lives, no matter where we go.

In London, United Kingdom, there is a camera monitoring system that works 24/7. This system is known as Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and according to official sources there is one camera for every 14 inhabitants. Every step or action we make is filmed and controlled by an operation system that unites all the cameras in a switcher room, watching all over London.

Applying this to the virtual territory, we see that the situation is similar to when we share personal information to others without noticing it. A clear example is those public entities where we leave our ID numbers and many other very personal data. The same happens when we type in or share personal info on networking websites, dating websites, and so on. Even when we authorize the use of our data to access some web content. Or when we authorize an online contract, which will give us access to a specific portal. In this sense, there is a monitoring system created by Facebook that allows them to use our info to let us access games or even application, even if those are our most basic data.

From the online advertising point of view, there are huge opportunities with this kind of information sharing. There are specialist advertisers who use key words typed on Google to tailor pop up adverts to users (Which I personally think that it is too annoying and unnecessary). Furthermore, there are those advanced systems that sweep your Internet preferences to use that data for their own companies benefit. An example of this is universities that use their data system to register and capture students’ classification awards to promote them to prospect students.

In parallel to this and coming back to the real world, we think of health check records, official records, criminal check records, bankcards, store loyalty cards and any other personal info that we give away. Recently I was told that even with that entry cards that we take when we check in to hotels around the world carry very important data about us. Those data are things like passport number, ID number and so on. When we check out, this data stays on the card, which is kept inside a drawer until the next guest comes in. Only then the info is wiped out from the card, but it remains there on their computer records. In other words, we are never free from this constant surveillance in anywhere we go.

To wrap this all up, I want to stress that this subject is too extensive and there is much more to it that I do not have space to cover it all here. But, it is also important to say that all the issues I did not mention are equally crucial. Anyway, my aim here is not and it never was to alarm anyone to this “lack of security” we have out there. I want to make clear that for everything there are positive and negative sides, therefore I only present the facts as they are to the own judgement of each of us. For this reason, when I put “lack of security” in inverted comma was to say that there is also a positive aspect in all of this, from where companies and institutions take advantage. So, from all of this we have to think: What am I doing with my personal data? To whom and Why am I passing this information? Do I need to do this for this purpose or not? We have to be conscious of our acts and that those acts are most important than anything else.

Vigilância na Era Virtual: Parte 2

E ai galera, tudo bom com vocês? espero que sim. Aqui vai mais uma publicação sobre o tema iniciado sobre vigilância. Espero que gostem e me perdoem se ficou um pouco extenso, mas devido a natureza social do tema, senti que precisava me prolongar.

Na minha primeira publicação sobre o tema, discorri sobre a importância de selecionarmos o que publicamos em nossas redes sociais a fim de evitar roubo de informações pessoais. A segurança pessoal estava em voga na minha publicação anterior, onde segui a risca a definição do dicionário para o termo vigiar e seu derivante vigilância.

Agora, nesta segunda e ultima parte em que discuto o tema vigilância, vou focar na definição acadêmica para o termo que mencionei e que agora passo a repetir. David Lyon, um escritor de material acadêmico, diz que vigilância se trate de “Assistir e registrar a atividade de outros como meio de monitoramento e supervisão dos mesmos” (Lyon, 2002). Ou ainda, “Foco e atenção sistemática a informações pessoais com o proposito de influenciar, gerenciar, tomar conta, controlar e regulação” (Lyon, 2002: p.1-5).

Embora possa parecer semelhante a definição dada no mini dicionário Aurélio, que diz que fiscalizar significa “1.Vigiar examinando. 2. Sindicar (os atos de outrem). Int. 3. Exercer o oficio de fiscal.” A definição acadêmica que me proponho a comentar significa muito mais do que uma simples fiscalização, se trata de monitoramento, constante vigilância que passa a se tornar algo sistemático e meticuloso, igualmente a um dessecamento físico de um animal ou ser humano. Isto vai além das redes sociais, algo em que estamos sujeitos todos os dias em qualquer lugar.

Em Londres, no Reino Unido, existe um sistema de monitoramento por câmeras que funciona 24 horas por dia, 7 dias na semana. Este sistema e bem conhecido por lá como Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) ou Circuito Fechado de TV em bom português. De acordo com informações oficiais, existem em torno de uma câmera para cada 14 pessoas. Cada passo ou ação que fazemos na ruas é vigiada por uma central que comporta as câmeras juntas de todos as possíveis localidades dentro do território londrino.

Aplicando isto no território virtual, vemos que a situação é bem similar quando compartilhamos informações importante para outros sem ao menos nos darmos conta disso. Um exemplo claro são os sites de órgãos públicos, onde deixamos dados como numero do RG, CPF, data de nascimento, etc. Da mesma forma quando inserimos informações pessoais em sites de relacionamento, de encontros, quando autorizamos o uso de informações pessoais para acessarmos algum conteúdo, quando autorizamos um contrato online que vá nos dar acesso a um portal especifico. Neste sentido, ha um sistema de monitoramento criado pelo Facebook que permite a eles o uso de informações pessoais de cada individuo quando para acessar jogos ou ate mesmo aplicativos, quando permitimos a disseminação ou uso de dados pessoais nossos, mesmo que sejam aqueles mais básicos.

Puxando a sardinha um pouco pro meu lado, vemos isto ate na publicidade online. A coisa se desenvolveu tanto neste sentido da vigilância que hoje em dia, ja ha algum tempo, publicitários especializados usam as palavras chave pesquisadas por alguém para preencher sua tela de propagandas indesejáveis, os famosos pop up (o que ao meu ver é irritante e desnecessário). Ou ainda, ha aqueles sistemas mais avançados que varrem sua rede a busca de algo que possa servir para o beneficio futuro das próprias entidades ou empresas. Um exemplo disto esta nas universidades, que usam o sistema de dados que registra as notas dos alunos para sua própria publicidade em futuros anos, afim de atrair novos alunos.

Paralelamente, voltando ao mundo real, pensamos nos arquivos médicos de hospitais e clinicas por onde passamos, das delegacias e ate informações armazenadas no cartão de credito, cheques, cartões fidelidade que fazemos com lojas e etc. Recentemente soube ate que temos de ter cuidado ate com os cartões-chave de hotéis onde nos hospedamos em qualquer lugar do mundo. Eles carregam dados muito importantes de cada um de nos, que não devemos sair disseminando por ai. Quando fazemos o check out nos tais hotéis, eles jogam as tais “chaves” numa gaveta depois que vamos embora e nossos dados ficam ale ate os cartões serem utilizados por outro hospede, e mesmo assim nossas informações permanecem no sistema do hotel. Ou seja, não estamos livres desta eterna vigilância em nenhum lugar.

Para concluir, quero enfatizar que obviamente este tema é muito extenso e abrange uma serie de outras coisas que para não me prolongar muito não mencionei nesta publicação mas que são igualmente importantes. De qualquer forma, meu objetivo não é e nunca foi alarmar ninguém a respeito desta “falta de segurança” que temos por ai. O quero deixar claro aqui é que pra tudo existe o lado negativo e o positivo, portanto apenas apresento os fatos como são, para julgamento de cada um. Por isso, quando coloquei “falta de segurança” entre aspas foi para dizer que também ha um lado positivo nisto, de onde as empresas ou instituições que mencionei tiram o proveito. Enfim, disto tudo temos apenas que pensar: o que estou fazendo com meus dados pessoais? Para quem e por que repasso isso? Preciso faze-lo para este fim ou não? Nos tornarmos conscientes de nossos atos então se torna bem ais importante do que qualquer outra coisa.

Vigilancia na Era Virtual: Parte I

Olá pessoal,

Quanto tempo sem publicar nada, não é mesmo? Estive tão ocupado nos últimos seis meses que não tive tempo de sentar em frente ao meu laptop para escrever nada além de trabalho. Mas agora tenho boas noticias: estou de volta ao blog, o que significa que novas postagens interessantes estão por vir e agora com mais frequência do que antes, prometo. E para começar novamente, nada melhor do que falar de um tema tão atual quanto vigilância virtual. Espero que gostem!

Soube que nesta semana tivemos o dia da segurança na Internet, pensando nisso e considerando que não tenho publicado nada por aqui recentemente, nada melhor do que falar sobre vigilância.

Ano passado, no meu ultimo ano de bacharelado, tive uma aula muita interessante sobre vigilância, o que me fez pensar sobre isso como um tema atual e recorrente em minha vida e na vida de milhões de outras pessoas. Porem, antes que eu possa começar a escrever qualquer coisa sobre isso, acho necessário que entendam o que significa vigilância ou fiscalização? Numa definição acadêmica, David Lyon, um escritor de material acadêmico, diz que vigilância se trate de “Assistir e registrar a atividade de outros como meio de monitoramento e supervisão dos mesmos” (Lyon, 2002). Ou ainda, “Foco e atenção sistemática a informações pessoais com o proposito de influenciar, gerenciar, tomar conta, controlar e regulação” (Lyon, 2002: p.1-5). Da mesma forma, o Mini Aurélio Dicionário da Língua Portuguesa, em sua sétima edição, afirma que fiscalizar significa “1.Vigiar examinando. 2. Sindicar (os atos de outrem). Int. 3. Exercer o oficio de fiscal.”

Sendo assim, por enquanto focarei na definição do dicionário para o termo fiscalizar, embora a primeira definição, a acadêmica, também seja importante e portanto será explorada em minha próxima postagem.

Em Nossa sociedade atual, onde a Internet e as redes sociais se tornaram uma febre e uma das principais formas de comunicação, as pessoas parecem estar perdendo a noção ao usa-las. Não existe qualquer filtro com respeito ao que publicar ou não publicar na Internet. Se pegarmos o Facebook como um exemplo do nosso uso das mídias sociais, fica mais do que claro sobre o que estou falando aqui. Durante os últimos dois anos, venho observando como as pessoas usam o Facebook e outras redes sociais e constato que nossa sociedade esta cada vez mais “aberta” na Internet. Estão sendo menos cuidadosas ao postar, compartilhar ou disseminar informações pessoais na web, como endereço, numero de telefone, locais onde vai estar ou já esteve. Ninguém parece estar assistindo o noticiário sobre sequestros, mortes, psicopatas, pedofilia e muitos outros crimes relacionados a captura de informações pessoais na Internet.

O quanto isso pode ser perigoso? Será que realmente prestamos atenção suficiente no que postamos e compartilhamos em nossas redes sociais? Acho que não. Talvez esta seja a razão pela qual ha um crescente numero de ferramentas digitais que capturam informações pessoais de qualquer pessoa que as forneça em suas redes. Existem ferramentas como o Four Square, uma suposta rede social que permite os usuários fazer o check in ou check out, o que deixa outros saberem sua localização exata através do Facebook. Sendo assim, continuo me perguntando, que tipo de ferramenta social seria esta? Para onde estamos indo com esta obsessão por redes sociais? Eu sinceramente não acho que seja necessário se revelar para o mundo dessa maneira. Acho inteiramente possível usar estas mídias sociais de forma mais inteligente e menos evasiva do que fornecer suas informações pessoais, como demonstrarei na próxima publicação sobre este tema. Por enquanto, precisamos compreender que tudo isso se refere a sabermos a melhor forma de usar nossas redes virtuais. Precisamos nos preservar como cidadãos de toda e qualquer ameaça externa ao nosso mundo virtual, que apenas nos trará problemas sérios. Sejamos espertos e alertas, postando apenas coisas que vão nos beneficiar pessoalmente e profissionalmente, não vamos superestimar o poder da informação.

Surveillance in the Digital Era: Part I

There has been a long time since the last publication isn't it? Things have become so busy in the past 6 months that I haven't had the chance to sit down in from of my laptop to write up anything other than work. However, I have good news: I am back to the blog, which means that there will be exciting posts coming up frequently this time, I promise. To start over again I have made a pick that I hope you will enjoy.

I have been told that yesterday was the day of Internet Security, and thinking about it and considering that I have not published anything on this blog for a long period of time I believe that speaking about data mining or surveillance is a great pick for today. Last year, when I was finishing my degree course, I have had a wonderful lecture that made me think about surveillance as a current and crucial theme in my life and in the life of millions of other people. But, before I can start off writing about this subject it is necessary to understand what does Data mining or Surveillance mean? Well, in an academic definition, David Lyon, an academic writer, says that surveillance is “Watching and recording others’ activity as a means of monitoring and supervising them” (Lyon, 2002). Or yet, “Focusing and systematic attention to personal details for the purpose of influence, management, care, control or regulation.” (Lyon, 2002: p. 1-5). Similarly, The Oxford English Dictionary defines it as “ Close observation of a suspected spy or criminal”.

For the time being, I am focusing in this article on the latter definition of the term surveillance, although the former and academic definition of the expression will be explored in another publication. In our current society, where the Internet and social networking sites have become our mainstream form of communication, people seem to be losing it. There is no filter on what to publish or not publish on the net. If we take Facebook as an example of our social media use, it is more than clear what I am talking about. In the past two years I have been observing that society are increasingly more “open” on the net, being less careful when posting, sharing or disseminating personal information on the web, like telephone numbers, places that they visited, their address and so on. No one seem to be watching the news about kidnapping, murders, psychopaths, paedophiles and many other types of criminals who take advantage of those information to take actions against “innocent” people who post personal details for the sake of networking.

How dangerous is that? Do you pay enough attention on what you are sharing on the web? I don’t think so. That is perhaps the reason for the sheering number of digital tools to get information from people nowadays. There are things like Four square, a named “social networking” site that allows users to check in and check out letting others know their exact location through Facebook. I keep asking myself what kind of social tool is that? How far have we got with this obsession for social networking sites? I do not think that it is necessary to unveil yourself to the world in that way. It is entirely possible to use those websites wisely than providing your personal details, as I will demonstrate in the next publication on this topic. Meanwhile, we need to comprehend that It is all about managing it in the best way. We need to preserve ourselves as citizens from any possible external threat that will only bring more trouble to your life. Be alert and smart, post things that will benefit you either personally or professionally, do not overestimate the power of information.

Sustentabilidade e Cidadania – Um relacionamento insustentável

Olá pessoal, Para brinda-los com mais uma postagem em português decidi tratar de um tema quotidiano e corriqueiro hoje em dia, mas que não e tratado com a devida atenção e respeito que merece. Espero que gostem!

Em tempos onde sustentabilidade e meio ambiente parecem ter virado uma febre nacional, gerando a falsa crença do bom samaritano, e preciso enfatizar o papel da educação e cidadania na construção de metas sustentáveis.

Não quero aqui soar arrogante ou melhor do que ninguém, mas não posso deixar de registrar minha humilde visão de uma realidade que muitas vezes, no dia a dia não e percebida. Temos visto constantemente na mídia pessoas com um belo discurso sobre como podemos ser sustentáveis, sobre como podemos ajudar o meio ambiente, sobre como sermos mais preocupados com o amanha e bla, bla, bla. Mas será que um cidadão comum, como qualquer outro, ou ate mesmo um estudioso do assunto sabe em seu intimo o que significa a palavra sustentabilidade? E o que dizer da palavra cidadania?

Muitas são as definições, mas me atenho aqui as mais simples que encontrei e que explicam meu parecer. De acordo com o dicionário Michaelis Online, Sustentabilidade e: Qualidade de sustentável, o que nos remete a palavra sustentável: que se pode sustentar. Pois bem, parto agora para a palavra Cidadania, descrita no mesmo dicionário como: qualidade de cidadão, o que nos remete a palavra cidadão, descrita como: Morador de uma cidade. Aquele que está no gozo dos direitos civis e políticos de um Estado.

Tendo dito isto, parto agora a explicar: Qual a relação entre sustentabilidade e Cidadania? A resposta esta na primeira palavra que os define: QUALIDADE. Seria algo impossível agirmos com pensamentos e valores sustentáveis se não conseguimos ao menos sustentar um nível de qualidade para sermos cidadãos. No quotidiano fazemos coisas que passa bem longe da tal qualidade: esbarramos no outro e nem sequer pedirmos desculpas, xingamos o próximo no transito sem nem sequer nos preocupar a quem estamos ofendendo, agimos com preconceito contra o negro, o magro, o gordo, o gay, a mulher, os mais velhos e por ai vai a lista de ‘malvadezas’, e aqui falo especificamente do povo brasileiro.

Passamos a refletir então nossas atitudes perante ao próximo: políticos roubam dinheiro com o consenso dos governantes, puxa-se a perna de um colega de trabalho para galgar-se cargos mais altos, o trabalho duro passa a ser para os fracos. Desrespeitam-se o idoso e o cadeirante, o paralitico, o que não tem dinheiro para comprar o almoço. Desigualdades sociais são vistas com descaso pelas autoridades e com superioridade pelos ascendentes sociais. Então pergunto: onde vamos parar? Onde vamos nos sustentar? Que exemplos daremos as nossas futuras gerações se hoje em dia matar os filhos e comum, o que falar dos filhos que matam os pais que não lhe dão um futuro de qualidade? Onde se sustenta o futuro de qualidade que pensamos e cuspimos a torto e a direito? Onde esta a nossa ética nisso tudo?

Ser sustentável não esta apenas no falar em sustentabilidade, no pensar no meio ambiente, quando apenas falamos da boca pra fora. Já dizia o velho ditado: ‘E fácil falar, difícil e fazer’. Por que a ambição e a ganancia, o despeito e arrogância são mais importantes do que a planta que regamos diariamente no quintal de nossa casa? Como podemos ousar dizer que somos sustentáveis ou cidadãos verdes e conscientes se ainda desrespeitamos o mundo e o próximo como faz-se diariamente.

E ambíguo e duro ver os outros falarem em sustentabilidade se nem sequer estamos preparados para sustentar uma convivência quotidiana, se nem sequer podemos qualificar o nosso ser, se não sabemos lhe dar com o direito e dever que temos. Um cidadão completo não e só aquele que fala que sabe fazer, mas sim aquele que faz, que ajuda, que respeita, que sustenta o próximo assim como gostaria de ser sustentado, nos pilares humanos da sociedade civil por direito. Como podemos então falar em qualidade de ser sustentável, de poder sustentar um futuro melhor, se nem mesmo começamos a viver uma melhoria presente, um futuro hoje. Deixo aqui meu manifesto para que posamos ser mais, que posamos praticar mais a tal sustentabilidade que tanto pregamos.

What do you thing about the current system of education?

After a long time without publishing in English, I would like to bring about a polemic subject: The current system of education. For that reason, and to support my arguments I am also publishing here an enlightening video entitled: " Changing Education Paradigms" from Sir Ken Robinson. He is a influential speaker and author on creativity, innovation and education. Hope you like it and leave your comments bellow. What do you think? lets make this debate go around.

I have been thinking about this subject for a long time, since I was in secondary school to be precise. Now, when I am about to graduate in university and receive my diploma, becoming finally ready for the professional world, a bunch of questions keep bugging me. Is education a valid thing? Is it a guarantee that you will have a job? Or it is just chatter? These are some the doubts I have about the current system of education.

I would like to start off this debate by stating that throughout all these years I have been educated in school and consequently university, I have never doubted the power of a diploma as I do now. Perhaps my concern is just a small fag from all these years seating on a school bench, or just a concern rose from exalted conversations with friends. But, the matter of the fact is: I am not sure if I am correctly prepared for my upcoming professional career. Of course I am not rejecting that without a diploma of higher education you will never climb that far in the career ladder, I am just bashing at another angle.

What I am questioning here is not the value of having graduated from university and leave the school bench for a while. Instead, I am suggesting a drastic reform in the education pattern. I then agree with Sir Ken Robinson in this video, the problem relies on how we have been taught. The method of education needs to be changed, the structure of teaching and educating needs to be fine tuned in order to form a creative professional, capable of anything, no matter in which environment that professional is being put into.

One simple example given in the video is the way that students are organized. The proposed system divide people by ages, what does not necessarily mean that an individual who has 8 or 9 years old have to behave like one in his age. That is why we have gifted children as we also have children with a mental deficit. In this way, age does not signify a line of thought and education compatible with a certain year in school. The individual is much more important in this case. It is imperative to emphasize here the talents that can be developed, no matter what year someone has achieved in school. 

Another element worth noticing here is the words DON’T or CAN’T said by a teacher. Who said that someone cannot perform a certain action? Who established that convention? This constant enforcement is certainly something that can definitely shrink any person’s mind and/or creativity. Additionally, when that individual comes to the end of its secondary school he begins to question if all that was valid; if his basic education was enough to move him to next level.

In conclusion, I need to make clear that I do not regret going to university or been to school in my early ages of life. What I want to bring to the surface is the constant method employed by educators all over the world to educate millions of children. It is a claim for all governments to care more about the future, to care more about what kind of professionals’ society is forming? It is not about being polite or becoming academics, but it is about creativity and personal care. Educators need to let that creativity that many times was just fenced inside a gifted child flourish increasingly more. Governments also must let those educators do that way. This is for sure a subject that is not ending here, many more posts are needed, much more people are necessary to gather to support that change. Therefore, if each of us do not understand that and change it, the future will not be as bright as it could be.

Iniciativas diarias para preservar o meio ambiente

Ola pessoal,

Depois de muito tempo sem postar nada em portugues, resolvi faze-lo hoje. E para isso escolhi um tema atual e que muito preocupa quando se pensa em futuro. O que sera do futuro de minha geracao, os meus filhos ou seus filhos ou netos que sofrerao os efeitos do aquecimento global e efeito estufa. Em epoca de Rio +20, quando muito tem se falado sobre sustentabilidade e meio ambiente acho justo publicar aqui uma lista que produzi, baseado em leituras e bom senso, que consiste em 20 iniciativas que podemos realizar diariamente (e que ja realizo o maximo possivel diariamente) para ajudar na preservacao do nosso planeta. Sao elas:

1.    Comprar produtos de madeira certificada

2.    Escovar os dentes e urinar durante o banho

3.    Manter uma alimentação baseada em frutas e legumes sem agrotóxicos

4.    Plantar uma arvore

5.    Usar mais a bicicleta

6.    Priorizar o uso de transporte publico

7.    Separar o lixo em casa

8.    Comprar objetos que vão demorar para virar lixo

9.    Comprar produtos em embalagem reciclável e fácil de descartar

10. Substituir descartáveis por laváveis

11. Andar mais a pé

12. Diminuir o consumo de açúcar refinado

13. Não usar mais sacolas plásticas

14. Passar a diante objetos que não são mais uteis a você

15. Dispensar o papel de seda nos embrulhos de presentes

16. Não jogar lixo na rua, guarde com você ate encontrar um local adequado para dispensa-lo. E se ver alguém fazendo educa-lo a fazer o correto.

17.  Controlar o desperdício de agua

18.  Busque informações sobre meio ambiente e sustentabilidade

19.  Não deprede o meio ambiente, evitando pisar na grama ou arrancar arvores e flores

20.  Mantenha maior contato com a natureza, realizando trilhas pela mata ou qualquer outra atividade do gênero

Com estas pequenas ações quotidianas acredito que poderemos cooperar para um futuro melhor e mais sustentavel para nossas geracoes futuras. Branding in the world of digital

Hey folks, In order to celebrate the one year birthday of this blog, I have selected a video to discuss a theme that have not been mentioned before. And also, took the opportunity to call to our minds previous publications to make it easier for me and for you to understand the concept and ideas of this blog. Hope you like it.

After one year of making this blog, I am kind of connecting the dots I have left behind. Much has been said about technology, digital media, innovation, creativity and sharing, but one theme seems to have been left out: Advertising and branding. But why was that? It seems to me that advertising is too much incorporated in our lives and online activity that we do not notice how it affects the way we use technology. In this enlightening video posted bellow, it is mentioned the future of brands and marketing activities in the world of digital and the Internet. The integration between the digital world and consumers, stated in the beginning of this video, make me recall the last publication here about collaborative consumption.

There certainly is a convergence between brands and consumers through the use of technology, shifting the idea of communicating to the mass, to the idea of communicating with the mass. It is also indeed true that digital technologies are becoming integrated and growing stronger, but I do not think that brands should be completely dissolved into these advancements. I do not believe that the future of brands and advertising is digital. Although we should consider its main advantages, such as high reach and fast pace movement, but there are offline types of advertising that would work better.

Returning to the point made when discussing collaborative consumption, traditional forms of social engagement should not be disregarded completely. Outdoor advertisements and mainstream media strategies, such as television or cinema, would reach the same amount of people, but in a different way. However, if brands are now engaging with consumers and talking with them, how above the line activities can do this? The answer to this is simple: be innovative.

Outdoor advertisements made by big car companies, where a guerrilla activity was proposed, by taking a car out, put it in the middle of a busy street and invite people to test it, feel the smell, engage with the brand is a good example of those novel ways I mentioned. The seeking for authenticity and balance in the way we consume, as said before, must be applied to branding. We should not exclude offline activities, but just combine both for better results.

The facts and figures given about out of home consumption online and offline, does not translate consumer feelings. The loosing of human senses is being stressed here. If digital and traditional media are combined, the 13% growth in revenue for online out of home actions plus the 2% of offline action would be transformed in a percentage even higher. Yet, it is just a question of creativity, of thinking ahead of the game and to put real efforts into real relations, human relations.

Therefore if Brands and consumers have now more opportunities to connect, advertisers then should think correctly on how to engage without forgetting. The questions are convergence not only of technologies and digital platforms, but also of traditional media put together with digital technologies, making audiences connect even more, engage even more. Innovation is a key also to change participation.

Innovating consumption thinking

Here is one more interesting reflection on this interesting video about collaborative consumption. Hope you like it, and think about it!




Linking back to some of the key ideas of this blog, and to the main theme of innovation, I found this video very enlightening. In a time of crisis and social networking, when the Y generation have taken over the world of technology, it is worthy thinking of consumption.

It is very intriguing to notice that once upon a time consumption was pretty much related to what we consume, as suggested by Rachel Bostman in the video. Even more shocking is to notice that it is true, if we think of a time where we consumed because we used to give value to the product, to the material, to the fabric, to the colours. In the capitalist world, consumption has gone far away from the idea of what we consume to why we consume and how we consume. I suppose that there are different types of consumption: the ones who consume because they want to, is a desire (present in all other kinds of consumerism); a minority, I would say, consume because they are used to it; and the other half of people today consume just to show off.

The fact that you have a Porsche, a Mercedes Benz or a Ferrari, the fact that you wear Armani, Gucci or Lacoste or that a woman has a Prada bag, certainly makes a lot of impression and make others think that you are rich. However, in the connected world, in the digital era the feeling must change, the perception must be focused on how we consume. Amazon and eBay has made the world of the Internet a millions business of consumption and sharing as put forward in this video.

Regardless of why you consume, I would say that the desire element is always present on the top of you head, only satisfied when you purchase that brand or product. Bringing it down to the world of the Internet and collaborative consumption, as mentioned throughout the video, novel ways of bringing that perception out of the desire are becoming popular. In the digital era where everything is related to the “I” theme, such as iPod, iPhone, iPad, the idea of sharing becomes of interest and needs to be further explored. The social media revolution I mentioned in an early publication on this blog comes back in the film, when Bostman explains what she believes are the four steps of that revolution, which for the purpose of her explanation she names Digital sharing evolution.

When the digital natives group moved from early forms of technology such as email, to Facebook and then the sharing of music and other interesting contents embedded within it, we then became interested to know more, to go further and explore other ways of sharing that might push forward the barrier of technologies and its features. The idea here is not just to be different and innovate, but to return to traditional forms of contact, as treated in the clip, but I would say that is not only because of we returned to that old school technique of sharing, but because we seek something new, we seek authenticity.

We are reaching a time in society’s attitude and mood when we are in a way becoming plastics, inanimate, mechanized as the Fordist industrial world was centuries ago. But on the other hands, the new generation are aware of this and are desperately hunting for new forms of being, new desires, authentic thinking. That authenticity then may be found in the nature of the past, in the nature of meeting the farmer who made the fresh milk, who produced the cheese and bread we are going to buy. The connection between digital and real then becomes necessary, becomes a need, not only that desire.

In the world of technology when everything is about self reflecting and turning to the inner personnel, it is just the correct time to wake up and say “there is also a world outside”. Yes, there is room for real connection, for authentic conversation rather than just chat with friends on Facebook and sharing content. It is good and necessary to have the technology, but it is also possible to link, the real and unreal, the authentic and the plastic.

Websites like eBay, amazon and others are just reinforcing some kind of consumption that we do not want anymore, the idea of a plastic and cold consumption where we do not touch things, we do not feel, we do not smell, human senses are being disposed off. In a world of global recession and global warming, we need a global understanding of how to build authentic lines of trust and relationships with goods and people, with environmental concern and health, to then be able to buy something because we capture the real need to it, the real objectification and necessity; the real self and the real desire.

In conclusion, the redefining of more, put by Bostman, is the major proposal here, is something that will certainly change the future by connecting past generations with future generations, the hard copies with digital copies to finally making together a real copy digitally made by social relations. The real future should indeed be a collaborative consumption future, where we think about how we can contribute to this world (remembering here the environmental and sustainability posts I recently did), to the society, not just thinking of consumption as a way to show off our material desire for goods, but to really care of what is important to consume, realize that together we can do, with the aid of digital, a brighter future.

Sustainability: a thought for the future

Hi Folks, Following the kind of same idea of my previous post on how to protect the environment, I found a video which kind of summarize the main points I was trying to say. I know it may sound annoying and boring for you to read and see this kind of video, but if you do not care about this, your sons may not be able to see the planet as you saw it when you were born, or perhaps will not be able to live as long as you did or you grand parents did. Take it serious, and have a look at this short video, leaving your comments after, lets share our thoughts and concerns. It helps you to understand the key issues around the theme sustainability and environment.

The environment needs you!

Welcome back to my blog if you have been away for a while. After a long holiday being away from my blog, I am coming back for one more posting that can help you to reflect on an issue that concerns all of us, citizens of the world. Hope you like it and leave me your comments bellow.




Within the past decades we have seen human beings turning into beasts regarding the environment. Trees have been cut down, rubbish thrown over seas, streets, gardens, and other public spaces. An ever-increasing amount of cars being sold encouraging carbon emission, factories burning hazardous gases to the environment and so on. There is no preoccupation or whatsoever with the future of the world, with the place that we are leaving to our children and post generations.

The consequences for this have been experienced nowadays, with the global warming changing the world’s climate forever. The polar crops are slowly melting down, perhaps in the same way as our brain activity to find a way out of it. Healthy and environmental authorities have already warned the population years ago, but we seem to have not listened to a single word of what they said. People seem to ignore the facts and figures, and just keep busy with their own lives. But how can we call this life if it has been draining down because of our bad habits?

The future of our children can be even worse if nothing is changed, if nobody listens to the fact presented in the news everyday regarding our own protection. An action must be done now to save the later; following the principles established by the old say ‘better sooner than later’. We must do something now, but how? What? It does not need to be big actions as becoming scientists to close the enormous hole in the atmosphere. Little actions, inserted within our daily life can make the future a better place, can make the world change and stand still for the sons of our sons, and the days after our days.

The video on the top of this text gives you and me a well presented, simple but beautiful advice on how we can make that change. Planting a tree per day, water the plants, contribute to recycling by separating our rubbish will make indeed a huge contribution. Everyone can help; it is like Tesco’s motto “Every little helps”. If each of us can contribute daily to protect our own living environment, our future can have a future. Our planet will improve; will get healed off of all the wounds we have been causing.

Do your part, while I am doing mine. Do not buy plastic bags from supermarkets; bring your own paper or cotton bag. Do not throw your rubbish away around public spaces, which is why rubbish bins exist. Find the nearest bin to you and do what you have to do, or just carry the rubbish with you until you find a proper place to it. One simple and lovely action as the one in the video can make you and I feel better, allowing the planet to give it back, to thank us. Lets always bear in mind that what we give is what we receive. Thank you!

Outro dia navegando pela Internet me deparei com esse vídeo, que me fez parar para pensar: para onde é que este mundo digital esta nos levando? Num mundo globalizado, onde quase todos temos acesso a Internet e suas redes sociais, as palavras livro e leitura parecem ter sumido do nosso vocabulário. Você constatar que o brasileiro lê apenas 1,3 livros por ano se equivale ao mesmo que você constatar que um analfabeto pode entrar para a faculdade. A questão central é: O que esta acontecendo com o nosso senso de credibilidade? Qual seria a credibilidade de alguém que foi alfabetizado baseado na leitura, esquecer anos depois como se escrevem as palavras? Tudo parece ter se transformado em um amontoado de palavras que não precisam fazer sentido quando combinadas.

Se rememorarmos o passado por algum momento veremos que muitos de nos, independente de credo, cor, ou idade passamos por um processo de alfabetização. Para isso tivemos que ler livros, paginas e paginas a fio, seja para alguma aula de português ou literatura, ou para uma complexa aula de física. Mesmo que atraves números ou cálculos complicados, também ali, nos livros, aprendemos como concatenar ideias e conceitos que um dia foram complicados para nós. Nos livros de português e literatura aprendemos a origem das palavras, os sons que produzem quando juntas, ate nos imergir em estórias de contos de fada maravilhosas, onde também aprendemos a escrever, a entender como as palavras se formam.

No mundo atual, com o avanço tecnológico passamos a ter acesso a algo que em gerações não tão antigas era inatingível. A Internet a principio seria apenas mais um recurso para pesquisas escolares ou ganhar algum “conhecimento”. O que vemos hoje em dia é que ao invés de brincar de boneca, jogar bola ou soltar pipa, os adolescentes e jovens estão cada vez mais cedo imergidos nesse mundo da Internet, onde tudo é possível, ate escrever errado. É comum vermos em redes sociais pessoas não só abreviando palavras, mas também escrevendo completamente errado. O que de uma certa forma acaba se refletindo em provas na escola e mas drasticamente nas futuras provas de vestibular, levando um analfabeto a faculdade.

Numa sociedade cada vez mais conectada é preciso pensar nos livros que “aprendemos” a esquecer cada vez mais cedo. Ao invés de estudar para um simulado ou prova, se torna cada vez mais comum mães flagrarem seus filhos no Facebook ou Twitter para uma consulta breve a enciclopédia do erro gramatical, onde escrever sem um s ou sem uma vogal parece não causar muito impacto. Se isso não causa impacto, certamente causara um prejuízo enorme quando apos milagrosamente o sujeito entra na faculdade descobrir que sua maravilhosa redação não passa de palavras sem acento ou coesão, sem juízo ou sentido. Pior ainda é não conseguir emprego no futuro por não saber escrever corretamente, ou simplesmente por não ler a informação necessária para a vaga.

Por ter sido sempre alguém que aprecia a leitura ainda gosto de ler um bom livro e sei que assim como eu ainda pode existir alguém que esta apenas preguiçoso demais para virara a pagina e prefere apenas clicar curtir no Facebook. Ao invés disso, escolha um assunto de seu interesse, sem ter mais que estar atrelado a algum livro chato de literatura antiga, e procure um livro que ache digno de ler. Leia a sinopse dele, o prefacio, se identifique com o titulo, com a capa, com possíveis gravuras, interaja com seu livro, com as palavras, com os significados. Folhei o livro inteiro, desperte seu interesse, acorde sua paixão, dai então comece pela primeira pagina, descobrindo então que não dói, não é tão difícil assim, você apenas precisa adquirir novamente a pratica da leitura. Da mesma forma que você aprendeu a digitar no teclado de seu computador, curtir ou cutucar um amigo no Facebook ou Tuitar aquela/e gata ou gato da escola ou faculdade, você pode reaprender a ler. Só assim, o processo de entendimento de sons, palavras e seus significado pode começar novamente, e o futuro do Brasil pode com credibilidade lhe dar um lugar na faculdade ou diploma por que você sabe soletrar e escrever a palavra educação.

'In Time' Review

Hello everyone, Here is my review for the movie 'In time', which I recently saw. Hope you like it and leave your comment in the end.


 

When I saw this trailer my first thought was ‘this is very unlikely to happen’ for me it seemed like a science fiction film with bits of action in it. Although I do not like the science fiction genre I went to see it this weekend and simply fell in love with it. This is a very clever plot; the movie simply uses the old say ‘time is money’ in a highly creative manner.  Instead of something ‘unlikely to happen’ it shifted in my mind to something that ‘ is happening’ and immediately moved me to the idea that it can indeed come true in a near future if we do not change the way we see and do things.

The movie sets us in an odd environment where people do not have wallets, they all have 25 years old, working not only to make a live but also to survive some more years. Everything is paid with time instead of cash, and there are timekeepers who mould people into a certain time frame. This is totally true if we translate that to our current capitalist society, where everything is money, it makes the world move and the time pass, in a sense that money controls time and lives. On the contrary the film swaps this concept around and say that actually time controls money and the way we live.

In a similar way we see in the beginning of the film a scene that takes us back to the well-known expression ‘Don’t waste my time’. This expression provides the pace for the whole action of the film. Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried brilliantly make us believe in the concept of time as a currency of life, offering the right mood, causing a real affect. Spectators are constantly invited to put themselves in the action and make a parallel to their lives, to the actual world. And in doing so, it is noticeable how true it is considering the way society has been driven. It becomes then crucial to think about capital as a thing necessary but not vital.

On the other hand the movie turns this proposition upside down, once capital then becomes vital, becomes a mean of surviving. For me what keeps the suspense and at the same time action of the film is the fact that it is constantly playing with the audience, playing with the concept of time is money. The confusion between real and unreal, not only make us awake throughout the movie but also make us question whether it is just a piece of fiction or it can come true. That is what I think makes ‘In time’ an excellent film, with a thrilling sound track and wonderful actors and consequently some special effects. The final message is clear, throwing back to us the question: Do we really use our time effectively or we just waste them? Or in other words do we make the most of our time or we let someone else control it for us?

Cidades Digitais

Ola gente,

Depois de algum tempo sem publicar nada, gostaria de mostrar e discutiir aqui um conceito bem interessante. Veja o video ai a baixo, leia o meu comentario e depois faca o seu. Nao e possivel que nao tenha nada a dizer sobre isso.

Passeando pela internet outro dia me deparei com este conceito ai do vídeo, algo que muito me interessou. A ideia das cidades digitais exposta no vídeo de forma clara e objetiva, seria para mim um ponto de partida para a sociedade do futuro. Como cidadãos deveríamos verdadeiramente pensar em como cada um de nos poderia melhorar o pais e o mundo em que vivemos hoje. A verdade é que num mundo cada vez mais agitado e competitivo, as vezes nos preocupamos mais com os leões de cada dia, que deixamos de lado o individuo que mora ao lado: o seu irmão ou irmã, o seu primo ou prima, o seu vizinho ou vizinha, o seu colega ou amigo.

Numa economia globalizada cada vez mais voltada para os negócios, mercado de valores e sobrevivência, tendemos a esquecer a vivencia e deixamos de lado noções e valores importantes como a cidadania. A preocupação com o próximo, seja ele um familiar ou não, parece ser muito distante do nosso quotidiano da sobrevivência. Mas o que não podemos esquecer é que ha sempre alguém precisando ao nosso lado, não somente de um medico como o caso apresentado no vídeo, mas também de um ombro amigo e uma palavra de atenção.

O conceito das cidades digitais não só nos relembra do significado da palavra cidadania e solidariedade, mas também nos mostra como podemos coloca-lo em pratica no nosso dia a dia com um vizinho ou familiar. E acredito que neste ponto a tecnologia da informação discutida em postagens anteriores ajuda muito neste processo. A ideia que venho expondo aqui ha algum tempo sobre conectividade, inovação e reinvenção é exemplificada no conceito cidades digitais. Implantado ha pouco mais de 4 anos em pequenas cidades de São Paulo o projeto parece realmente ser coisa do futuro. Imaginar o fato de uma população inteira se conectar e se ajudar por meio de sinais de satélite parece inacreditável e ao mesmo tempo animador pelo fato de saber que isto é possível.

O mais interessante é perceber o processo de reinvenção de um principio básico das telecomunicações, executado no nosso dia a dia quando falamos ao celular ou nos conectamos a internet. Este simples conceito aliado ao conhecimento e a alta tecnologia disponível atualmente, permitiram que profissionais da área conseguissem desenvolver um protótipo de um futuro ideal. Algo que pode perfeitamente ser incorporado em nossas mentes e talvez nos levar a algum lugar muito além de nossas habilidades digitais. Esta simples ideia, pode nos levar a um mundo de possibilidades e aventuras quotidianas, que aliadas a cabeças ativas e não dormentes, pode sim ser cada vez melhor.

Não estou aqui dizendo que deveríamos criar cidades digitais e mudar o mundo, pois essa seria uma versão um pouco infantil demais para um assunto de gente grande. O que acredito e quero dizer é que podemos começar isso no dia a dia, ajudando um deficiente visual a atravessar a rua, ajudando um cadeirante a subir no ônibus, oferecer ajuda a quem precisa, acolher o sem teto no seu conforto de amor, bondade, seriedade, sinceridade, gratidão e o mais importante: cidadania. Sinto que precisamos acreditar no próximo, ajudar o próximo, para podermos construir cidades digitais que se conectam não só por sinais aéreos mas principalmente por uma corrente humana de solidariedade e respeito.

Technology in the service of information

As a recap and integration of my last two posts, I would like to write and think based on images today, those above this text. For some time we already know the importance of technology in our lives, accompanying us wherever we go. It seems to me that nowadays there is an increasing technological fever, where people cannot live without their mobile phones or the Internet. The world seems to be spinning around technologies, disregarding if it is a recent one or the previous one. What can be proven is the fact that the world is integrated and connected around some form of technology. However I should ask if it is really the information technology era or are we influenced by a world wave seeking for technological improvement?

Some scholars and technology savvy, argue that yes, technology is in favour of information. When Steve Jobs invented the computer that was going to revolutionize the world today, the Macintosh, in a small, dirty and perhaps smelly garage, he was then creating an easy and quick way to acquire and practice knowledge. An example of how these ‘machines’ can help in the practice of knowledge is the edition tool present in a Mac Pc or laptop. Not to mention that those edition tools have been increasingly developing for the better. This tool allows people to edit videos recorded previously, in an innovative, creative and fun approach.

The professionals of the digital era we are living in thank to all of those technological advances. Only because of a Macintosh that media and communication professionals can create, innovate, renovate and reinvent in a way to match client’s requirements and enter the fierce market competition. In the same way, Steve Jobs and apple created the iPhone, allowing interpersonal communication in a creative manner. With this portable technology on hands, we are able to not only connect to the Internet, but also acquire information and knowledge by accessing journals, newspapers and another such applications. Through iPhone it is also possible to learn languages or strange terms via encyclopaedias, dictionaries and other digital applications.

On the other hand, some people might argue that our future could be nothing more than a competition for who has the best in terms of technology. A clear example of this could be the new iPhone 4S, which no longer than two weeks of it’s launch, already causing long waiting lists around stores to purchase the product. Would this be a sign that we might be going to far and losing ourselves in the middle of interactivity? This could be true, but I believe that this is a myth created by our digital society connected mind.

It is ok to admit that we can see technology as a way of distraction and have fun, when we can download games application to our iPhones or smartphones, as the same as download songs to our virtual playlist. However, I believe that this is only a matter or entertainment, not a way of alienation from the world surrounding because of technology. Yet, we should consider that certain people misuse this diverse and integrated technology, although it is only a minority of people.

The truth is that we should take into account that all of us like to be connected and tuned with the global digital technology. The social media mentioned in my previous post is only one more example of the usage of that technology we have in our homes or mobile phones. We should not see it in a negative way, we should seek to innovate ourselves, and connect with the latest information technology and digital integration available. If well used, we can take advantage of what we have on hands. We must admit that the time has changed, the world today sweat software’s and hardware’s. It is not that our brains are turned into a family board or Computer HD., but we should keep ourselves updated and developed. The time is different; we have to follow the flow of the world, as I said in the text about innovation.

In conclusion, I should really emphasize the idea that we live in an information and digital technology era. We cannot be hypercritics and keep living in the past of the black and white TV and the damaged radio that used to occupy so much space in the side table. We have to seek knowledge applied to technology and information. We should do like the first image from the top to the bottom, connect our mental cables into the world socket or network of renovated information, to be able to reinvent, recreate, and be intelligent to think in how to improve the shattered universe currently seeking for wars.

Tecnologia a servico da informacao

Ola a todos, aqui esta mais uma postagem interessantisima para voces, espero que gostem.

Como uma forma de recapitulação e integração das minhas duas ultimas postagens, gostaria de escrever e pensar hoje baseado em imagens, estas ai a cima.

Já faz algum tempo que sabemos da importância da tecnologia em nossas vidas, nos acompanhando por onde quer que formos. Parece-me que hoje em dia há uma febre tecnológica muito grande, as pessoas já não conseguem mais viver sem o celular ou a internet. O mundo parece girar em torno das tecnologias, sejam elas recentes ou um pouco mais ultrapassadas, mas há de se convir que hoje em dia todos se rendem a ela. O que se pode comprovar de fato é uma integração e conectividade do mundo ao redor de alguma forma de tecnologia. Porem devo perguntar se esta seria realmente uma era da tecnologia da informação ou apenas estaríamos influenciados por uma onda mundial em busca de aperfeiçoamento tecnológico?

Alguns estudiosos recentes acreditam que sim, a tecnologia esta a favor da informação. Quando o saudoso Steve Jobs criou o computador que revolucionaria o mundo hoje, o Macintosh, em uma garagem escura, pequena e talvez mal cheirosa, ele estaria ali criando uma forma mais rápida e fácil de adquirir conhecimento e pratica-los de forma adequada. Um pequeno exemplo de como essa ‘maquinas’ podem ajudar na pratica do conhecimento seria o recurso de edição de vídeo. Este que alias desde o lançamento dos Macintosh vem se desenvolvendo e aperfeiçoando consideravelmente. Através desse recurso podemos editar vídeos gravados amadoramente ou não, de uma forma muito criadora, inovadora, e divertida.

Profissionais da era digital em que vivemos hoje agradecem por muitos desses avanços tecnológicos. Graças a um Macintosh profissionais da área de comunicação e mídia podem criar, inovar, renovar e se reinventar para atender as demandas de um cliente e participar de uma concorrência cada vez mais acirrada. Da mesma forma do que esses super computadores, Steve Jobs e a Apple criaram o iPhone, permitindo comunicação interpessoal de forma inteligente. Com tal tecnologia portável em mãos, somos capazes de não só conectar-se a internet e suas redes sociais, como também adquirir mais informação e conhecimento acessando jornais e outros aplicativos do gênero ou ate melhores. Através deles também se é possível aprender línguas e termos estranhos usando enciclopédias, dicionários e outros aplicativos do tipo.

Por outro lado, algumas pessoas acreditam que nossa era atual não passa de uma competição por aqueles que tem a tecnologia mais moderna e avançada. Um exemplo claro se da no recente lançamento do iPhone 4s, que em apenas duas semanas da data de lançamentos, já faz filas imensas de espera na lojas para adquirir o produto. Será isso um sinal de que talvez estejamos indo longe de mais e nos perdendo na interatividade? Talvez seja verdade, mas acredito que isso seja um mito criado pela própria sociedade digitalmente conectada.

Tudo bem que podemos ver a tecnologia como uma forma de diversão e distração, quando também podemos baixar aplicativos de jogos nos nossos iPhones ou smartphones, assim como também baixar musicas para nossa biblioteca virtual. Mas acredito que isso seria apenas uma forma de entretenimento, do que de alienação do mundo por causa da tecnologia. Devemos considerar porem que determinadas pessoas fazem mal uso dessa diversificação e integração tecnológica, mas isso seria apenas uma minoria.

A verdade que devemos considerar é que todos gostamos de se manter conectado ao mundo global da tecnologia digital. As mídias digitais mencionadas na postagem anterior, são só mais um exemplo de uso da tecnologia que temos em nossas casas ou telefones moveis. Não devemos ver isso pelo lado negativo, pelo contrario, devemos buscar sempre nos inovar sim, nos conectar com o que há de mais novo em termos de tecnologia da informação e integração digital. Se bem usado, podemos tirar o maior proveito do que temos em mãos. Temos que admitir que os tempos mudaram, o mundo transpira hoje softwares e hardwares. Não que nossas mentes tenham virado uma torre de controle ou CPU, mas temos que nos manter atualizados e desenvolvidos. Os tempos são outros, temos que nos mover com o mundo, como mencionei no texto sobre inovação.

Para concluir, devo realmente reforçar a ideia de que vivemos na era da informação digital e tecnológica. Não podemos ser hipócritas e nos mantermos no passado da TV em preto e branco ou do radio escangalhado e imenso que ocupava espaço na mesinha de canto. Temos que buscar o conhecimento aplicado a tecnologia e a informação. Devemos fazer como na primeira imagem de cima para baixo, plugar nossos cabos mentais a rede mundial da informação renovada, para poder então se reinventar, recriar, ser inteligentes e pensar em como melhorar um universo desunido e desconectado em busca de guerras com necessidades desconhecidas.
